Modern Day Proverbs
April 25, 2008
I would really like to hear any modern proverbs, truisms, etc. that you may have. Here are some that I’ve picked up over the years:
Hold loosely to the prosperity and the pain.
Hurting people hurt people.
We’re all just a little bit pitiful.
Speak when you have something to say, not when you have to say something.
…and some old favorites that I’m finding to be true:
Truth is stranger than fiction.
If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
…Share yours!

How about Dave Ramsey’s proverb?

God helps those who help themselves. (My mother said)
Charity begins at home. (My mother said)
Tha harder I work, the luckier I get.
If that preaching rubs you wrong, turn you cat around! (Kenneth Phillips)
If you can’t say something nice about someone, then don’t say anything at all.
If life gives you a lemon, make lemonaide!
Don’t kick a sleeping dog!

It’s late right now (you’re already in bed). Maybe I’ll think of more tomorrow. For now, here’s one that has been on my mind the last few days because of a conversation with a friend.
Love the sinner, hate the sin.

I just read a good one.
“There is good everywhere. Sometimes it has a hard time coming out, but when it does, it is so refreshing.”
